God's Truthful Guidance

THEME: EXODUS FROM EGYPT

TOPIC: PASSOVER AND EXODUS

BIBLE CHAPTER: EXODUS 12

💡REFLECTION:

I have several points to emphasize about this chapter. Let me delve into the details:

  • The opening line, "This month is to be for you the first month, the first month of your year," immediately caught my attention. Reading this chapter at the beginning of the year feels remarkably timely. It gives me a strong sense that the Lord is walking alongside me on this journey.

  • God provided clear and straightforward instructions to the Israelites. I yearn for the same clarity in hearing God's guidance for my life. Moses's ability to hear directly from God is truly a blessing.

  • While not Jewish but a devoted Catholic, I now understand the significance of the Passover Festival for the Israelites. The exclusion of foreigners from the Passover dinner emphasizes its original intent for the Israelites. However, God's invitation extends to people of all nationalities, showcasing His plan to include more nations in the story of salvation.

  • Reflecting on why only the firstborn was struck during the events of this chapter, I discovered that it aimed to disrupt Egypt's sense of security and power, challenging their traditional practice of passing down genealogies through firstborn sons.

  • My highlighted passage, Exodus 12:35–36, underscores God's generosity and grace. He provided specific instructions, executed His plan to free the Israelites, and persuaded the Egyptians to give them valuables. God's provision is not only sufficient but abundant.

In conclusion, I've realized that God is consistently truthful—true to His word, promises, and purposes. I ask for forgiveness as I continue to attempt solving problems independently, knowing that God has already mapped out the path for me. The Bible serves as a source of His instructions, for which I am grateful. I thank God for the numerous opportunities and fresh starts that strengthen my faith.

Acknowledging God as my sole deity, I recognize that even though I may feel insignificant, He sees me as somebody, and that is more than enough.
